ACT Prep Camp: Montevallo

When: Tuesday, May 29- Friday, June 1
Where:  University of Montevallo
Who: High School Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors
Participant Fee: $250 per participant- This includes the price of lunch & snacks.


This four-day camp will provide students with content and test taking strategies for
each section of the ACT test. One point can be the difference in receiving a
scholarship! A 20 percent scholarship is available to the children of UM
employees and for those who qualify for financial assistance based on documented
free/reduced lunch participants.

LSCC Dual Enrollment Bonanza Information

LSCC Dual Enrollment Bonanza Information

The next Bonanza is scheduled for Thursday, May 17, 2018.  The Bonanza is designed to orient Dual Enrollment students who have registered for the summer 2018 term.  Thus, be sure to complete all registration steps before you attend the Bonanza.   If you would like to attend the Bonanza, you must register online (for Dual Enrollment) first.  To do so, please follow Track 2 directions (if you are new student) or Track 4 directions (if you are a returning student).  Click here to begin the enrollment process.

All Dual Enrollment students are  required to participate in the Dual Enrollment Bonanza.  Details about this event are below.

Grant funds (free funds for select Career Technical Programs) will be distributed on a first come, first served basis to eligible students.  Funds are limited and are NOT guaranteed.  Funds cover books, tuition and fees (and some select materials).  You must be present at this event to qualify for grant covered funds (while they last).  Typically the Bonanza runs from about 9 a.m. until noon, so plan accordingly.  On average, it can take about 2 hours to complete the full registration process, depending upon when you arrive.  The earlier you arrive, typically, the shorter your processing time.  These are projected times only and can never be predicted.

Service Technician Intern:

The purpose of the Service Technician Internship is to introduce incoming high school Juniors and Seniors to an exciting career as a Caterpillar dealer technician, and to gain real-world experience by assisting, observing and learning from experienced technicians while performing service and repair of equipment. Examples of the types of machinery that the intern may be exposed to includes earthmoving equipment, diesel engines, electric power generators, lift trucks, and rental products. Extensive on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning will be provided throughout the internship training program. The successful intern candidate will demonstrate initiative, commitment to team work, enthusiasm for customer service, and model the desire to finding solutions in an efficient manner.

Think Big Student - Electric Power Generation:

**THIS IS A TWO YEAR CO-OP ASSOCIATES DEGREE PROGRAM**
Thompson Tractor offers scholarships for the Caterpillar ThinkBIG program which is a two-year college education program. Thompson Tractor and other dealers in the Southeast are partners with South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) to teach you how to service Caterpillar equipment using cutting-edge diagnostics, advanced technologies, and high-tech tools. The major emphasis of the ThinkBIG program is on heavy equipment engines, with a minor focus on marine propulsion systems and power generator repair theory and practical application. 

ThinkBIG students rotate every 8-weeks between SGTC and the Thompson Tractor dealership for classroom instructions and hands-on training experience. After 2-years of the 8-week rotational internship you will have an Associate’s Degree in Heavy Equipment Dealer Service Technology.
