ACT PREP SINGLE-DAY COURSES
Cost: $110 for general registration, 20% discount for children of UM employees and for students receiving free and reduced lunch.
• Includes lunch and a snack
• Covers all ACT test subjects with in-class practice testing
• Each participant will receive a copy of the official ACT Test Prep book, a math review card and other goodies

Who: This webinar is for high school seniors and their families from across Alabama
Why: To learn how to get financial aid to pay for academic and technical credentials after high school.
How: To join the Facebook LIVE event, go to facebook.com/CashforCollegeAL at 7pm on October 18. The stream will appear at the top of the page once it begins.
You will learn:
- Which papers and documents you will need to complete the FAFSA.
- About different types of financial aid and what you use it to pay for.
Information for Duke Summer Session for High School Students’ 2019 programs is now available! Choose from three transformative programs next summer:
Summer College – A four-week, credit-bearing program for students currently in 10th– 12th grade in which they take undergraduate-level courses.
Summer Academy – A three-week program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade in which they take a certificate course.
Accelerated STEM Academy – A one-week, STEM-based program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade that consists of a variety of hands-on labs, tours of Duke’s research facilities, faculty lectures, and workshops.

Explorer Post with Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency!
What: Students in this program will interact with a variety of agencies throughout Jefferson County, including Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS, and the National Weather Service. In addition to learning about a variety of career options, participants will train for certification as an emergency response unit that can be called into service to support the EMA in carrying out its mission in times of community crisis.
When: Thursday, October 11th, 6:30 p.m
Where: Emergency Management Agency’s headquarters (located at 709 19th Street North 35203 – in the basement of the Jefferson County Courthouse)

The 2019–20 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is available—and with it, we’re making history. Students can complete and submit the FAFSA form using their phones by accessing the redesigned fafsa.gov or downloading the new myStudentAid mobile app.
Why does mobile matter? A mobile-ready FAFSA form means students can apply for federal student aid from virtually anywhere, using nothing more than the phone in their pocket.
To fill out the FAFSA form, students can simply:
-Download the myStudentAid app (iOS or Android) and fill it out from a mobile device, or
-Visit fafsa.gov and fill out the form using the device of their choice, including a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
