Another exciting Preview Day is just around the corner for Future Gamecocks!
JSU will be hosting a second Fall Preview Day on October 5th! Preview Day is an open-house event where students can connect with faculty and staff, take a campus tour with student leaders, see residence halls and the state-of-the-art Recreation and Fitness Center, and so much more! Preview Day is a FREE event and attendees receive tickets to the 6pm JSU football game that night!
A few more exciting notes:
- Bus tours and walking tours will be available!
- Admissions and Financial Aid Sessions and tours will be available in Spanish!
- A lucky Preview Day attendee will win a $500 JSU scholarship!

Each year, nearly 40,000 9-12 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of $2.1 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program.
The national first-place winner receives a $30,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school. A complete list of other national scholarships range from $1,000-$16,000, and the first-place winner from each VFW Department (state) wins a minimum scholarship of $1,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.

If you decide to participate, you will need to register at infinitescholar.org
You will also need to prepare some information to take with you:
at minimum, 5 copies each of the following,

Remember: If you are participating you will need to be finalizing required material that you need to bring.

New Need Based Scholarship:
We’re investing in you, Alabama.
Committed to advancing the students of our state, The University of Alabama is offering the new Alabama Advantage need-based scholarship to remove financial barriers that keep Alabama residents from carving their own path at UA.
How to make your way to UA:
- Be an Alabama resident
- Be an accepted freshman by December 15 – apply early!
- Complete the FAFSA – opens Oct. 1! (Submitting your FAFSA before March 1 ensure priority consideration for all types of aid.)
Requirements:
To receive the Alabama Advantage scholarship, students must be eligible for the full Pell Grant. Additionally, students are expected to enroll full time with at least 12 credit hours per semester and maintain a 2.0 grade point average.

Entering Freshman 2020-2021
Entering freshmen must submit the following in order to be admitted by December 15 of their senior year and considered for academic scholarships:
- Application for admission
- Official high school transcript*
- Official test score on either the ACT or SAT
Entering freshmen admitted by December 15th of their senior year will have the opportunity to apply for the university’s competitive scholarships and will be automatically considered for the university’s academic merit-based scholarships. See below to learn more about the competitive and academic merit-based scholarships and the types of scholarships offered:
Competitive Scholarships
Entering freshmen must be admitted by December 15th during the fall of their senior year in high school in order to access the scholarship application. A completed scholarship application must be submitted online. To complete the scholarship application, go to mybama.ua.edu, log in, click the Admissions/Scholarships link from the main menu, then select the Application for Scholarships link within the Scholarships section of the page. If you need help completing the scholarship application, please refer to the step-by-step instructions.
Entering freshmen must be admitted by December 15th for competitive scholarship consideration. This means the high school 9th-11th grade point average (GPA) and national December ACT and national December SAT results are the last college entrance GPA/examination results accepted for competitive scholarship consideration.
Once a scholarship application has been submitted, changes cannot be made to the application. All changes must be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships using the contact form.
When a student submits the scholarship application, it is disseminated to the National Alumni Association and the college/school in which the student will major (e.g., Arts and Sciences, Business, etc.) for scholarship consideration. Students are not responsible for submitting numerous applications to different departments.
The application is updated each year, so students must wait until their senior year of high school to apply to ensure that the correct application is completed.
Academic Merit Scholarships
Entering in-state and out-of-state freshmen that meet their respective merit-based scholarship criteria will be automatically awarded upon admission.
The high school grade point average (GPA) through December of the senior year and the national February ACT and national February SAT results are the last college entrance GPA/examination results accepted for students being considered for academic merit scholarships.
The academic merit scholarships will be awarded through May 1st of the entering freshman senior year of high school.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors.
