1.) Grade Point Average 2.75 or higher
2.) Official Transcript with counselors printed name and signature
3.) Completed Application and participation in scheduled interview
4.) Three (3) Letters of Recommendations (Ex: Counselor, Teacher, Employer)
5.) Birmingham/Jefferson County Resident
6.) A 500 – 750 words essay on the following: Explain how Alabama State University will define your role in America’s society, as well as enhance your career goals.
7.) Uploaded photograph of applicant.

Kid's Chance/Workman's Comp Scholarship
KIDS’ CHANCE
Kids’ Chance scholarships fund college tuition or technical training to young people whose parent or parents have been permanently disabled or killed on the job. The death or disabling injury of a parent in an on-the-job accident usually means that a family’s standard of living is permanently lowered.
Scholarships range from $500 to $2500.

McWane Science Center Summer Volunteer Opportunities:
*Who=Teen and Junior Teen Volunteers are differentiated based on age and hour requirements. If you are completing the 8th grade or higher in May 2019, then you will apply for the Summer Teen Program. If you are completing 6th or 7th grade, you will apply for the Summer Junior Teen Program.
*What= Teen Volunteers present hands-on science activities and demonstration at interpretive stations and exhibits throughout our science center. Teen volunteers also help with our Summer Camps, where they have the opportunity to act as role models and mentors guiding young campers in STEM-related activities
*When= June 3-August 2, 2019. During that time, volunteer shifts are available Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-6:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 am-6:00 pm, and Sunday from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm.
*Deadline= Monday, April 1, 2019
