The Joe Wright Scholarship
The Joe
Wright Scholarship is given each year to qualifying seniors in five categories.
Applicants may apply for a scholarship in one of the categories: academic,
athletic, character, fine arts, and greatest need.

Please
choose one category for which to apply.

Fill
out the attached application page.
·
Write
a 200 word essay on why you should be chosen to receive the scholarship for
that category.
·
Provide
two letters of reference. You may not use Ms. Lindsey for this scholarship as
she chairs the selection committee.
·
Provide
a copy of your letter of acceptance from the college you are attending.
Application,
essay, letters of reference, and copy of acceptance letter must all be turned
in together to Ms. Lindsey by the deadline of Friday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m.
There will be no exceptions for late entries.
Scholarship
amounts are to be determined per category and will be announced
at the Senior Awards Day on Wednesday, May 22.
Applications
are reviewed by a panel of judges from outside the Oak Grove Community and
names are removed from the applications as the panel reviews. Judges include
educational professionals, business professionals, clergy and professionals
from a higher education selection profession.
