UA Rural Health Scholars Summer Program

Health Science Students:  Please see the info below for information on an amazing summer program to jumpstart your college experience.  Click the link at the bottom of this email to get started!

Details

  • Tuition, books, housing and meals are provided
  • Participants live on campus with counselors and have access to the UA Student Recreation Center and other campus facilities
  • Participants are responsible for transportation to and from the program, as well as personal expenses

High School Programs

Students spend five weeks in the summer at The University of Alabama where they live on the UA campus, take college courses for credit, attend tutorials and seminars, shadow physicians and other health care professionals and participate in field trips to rural medical facilities.

Minority Rural Health Scholars

This program is exclusively for rural Alabama high school graduates who plan to enter college in the next academic year. The aim of the program is to increase the number of minority students from rural Alabama who qualify for admission to medical school.

Schedule

  • Classes are Monday through Friday
  • Labs are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • Seminars and field trips are Mondays and Fridays
Application deadline is March 1, 2020.
